In his consulting work Rainer combines his experience in management sciences, management consulting and industry. His last position before becoming a marketing and sales university professor was as managing director of a SME in Madrid/Spain. Rainer is an author of a number of publications, amongst others in Harvard Business Manager, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and books. He is an experienced keynote speaker at various congresses and symposia.
Strengths and Career Achievements
Rainer brings more than 20 years of industry experience in renowned companies such as the NIVEA company Beiersdorf where he started his career in marketing and sales. He managed new product launches and the development of advertising campaigns.
He then worked for different management consulting companies such as Droege & Comp., Simon-Kucher & Partners – the world market leader in pricing consultancy. He steered international projects with a focus on B2B across Latin America, USA and Europe. He moved on to take the responsibility as managing director of a SME in the NGO business in Madrid where he was also responsible for the construction of a new building, the implementation of an ERP system and the introduction of a sponsoring programme.
Since 2013 he chairs the professorship in marketing and sales at the University of Applied Sciences of Esslingen/Stuttgart. In 2014 he was founding partner of the Steinbeis Sales & Marketing Institute (Steinbeis VMI).
He studied Business Administration in Germany and the UK and holds a PhD in marketing from the renown faculty of Prof. Dr. F.-R. Esch.

Rainer’s focus in consulting is on corporate strategy, price management, brand management, B2B marketing and digitalisation in sales and marketing. Due to his profound experience he also conducts market research projects for different clients (especially expert interviews and focus groups).
